PRF

PRF
PRF is an autologous blood concentrate prepared from a patient’s own blood just before or during a dental procedure. Blood is drawn from the patient and immediately spun in a centrifuge machine to separate the different blood components into individual, concentrated layers that the clinician can use in many applications. The PRF layer is a yellow and thick jelly-like biologic material rich in fibrin and growth factors. In the absence of PRF, dental extraction sites are commonly left to heal open to the oral cavity where saliva, bacteria, and other contaminants are free to enter the socket. When PRF is placed into an extraction site, the PRF protects the site from infection and enriches the area with proteins that accelerate healing.
